I'm heartened by the coverage of MSM, on this event. While it still gives too much attention to an already loud mouth, with this particular EO, the coverage was refuting. MSM came forward and showcased the refutations. And that is something it rarely does. Violent crime stats in that area are DOWN. Yes: DOWN. Heavens: what a national emergency! We need more crime! ;-)

Lori--You asked. Here's my two cents worth.

1) Vacations are the most valuable times of your life and I encourage you to suck the marrow out of the opportunity for rest, renewal, reflection.

2) I count on you for the psychotherapist experience and your context of anxiety management as it shows up in everyday happenings.

3) I do not expect you to analyze Trump or American politics. There are several journalists with 40+ years experience who are fulfilling that need for me, very well.

4) I'm already weary of writers who are using ChatGPT instead of continuing with their own voice, from their own experiences. Eventually, writers may figure out how to use it to be more human, but currently, it's showing up as much longer and very tedious regurgitations of words that make me stop reading that author or unsubscribe.

Thanks for this. My only recommendation would be that you continue to emphasize on each of these breakdowns that EOs are not laws, and the fact that we all snap into shape, so to speak, each time one of these things comes out undermines just how thoroughly Congress has ceded its power. DC is one of my favorite cities--it's the seat of U.S. government with a uniquely international flair--and the current regime is on a mission to quash that.

A great point, CN. Members of the exec branch of gov, have to answer to folks above them, within that branch, plus, to the legislative and the judicial branches. Loud Mouth is merely the head of the executive branch. Even he, has to answer to the other 2 branches; something he keeps seeming to forget.

Further, members of the executive branch do NOT have to follow bad orders. Ones which violate the Constitution or other relevant laws. In fact, in the military, they are outright required not to.

Moreover, one journalist noted that the troops, themselves, are frustrated with this bad order. That's heartening! They're on our side! See -

Absolutely outstanding article - I love this, especially because it doesn’t just sound the alarm, but actually tells people what is happening, why it’s happening, how it’s happening - and, most importantly, gives them concrete levers they can use to act! That’s rare, and in my view, exceptional journalism.

The mechanism you describe here is exactly the one I laid out in my Chimera State article - this case is a textbook example and a perfect proof of how that hybrid power structure works in practice.

The good news?

Maybe this will prevent Trump from nuking DC for a few extra months.

We all know that Trump/Putin WANTS to see American cities burning...especially majority persons of color (POC) cities in Blue states. Trump thinking he'll make more money if he can show his power over entire RACES of Americans is very important to this man who is still angrily thinking (as he told Oprah), that he'd have been MORE successful had he been born Black (with $400,000,000 one presumes.)

I'd like to see more of this, especially since I'm attempting to personally boycott AI (for its environmental and possible creative costs.) If I can count on you to present this new reality (as I know I can), then I'll feel both informed AND hypocritical!

Thank you, Lori.
