Thank you so much. Your writings are both concretely helpful and produce a sense of hope too.

Sheri, thank you, I can't tell you how much those words to me. You've just let me know that I'm doing what I've set out to do.

You are writing all of this in the middle of your own, personal turbulence! That’s the thing about the political, worldwide discourse; (I don’t know you well enough to use the descriptive words I’d like to use!) life is still going on and life isn’t easy. I hope you and your partner are doing better. I’m slowly making my way through all the steps you posted. It’s slow going because I don’t take in too much online at a time for my own mental health and because I keep stopping to make changes to the apps as you suggest them. One day, one hour at a time. Oh yes, and breath!

Thank you for your warm wishes Sheri. Yes, we're coming out the other side now. It is slow going as you say, but recognising your limitations — and working with them, not trying to push yourself past them, or condemn yourself for them — is such a strong first step. Well done Sheri, that in itself is not easy.

Taking it step by step is key, as you say, and steadily we become strong. 💪

Lori, what a horrible ordeal you and yours have been dealing with. Your first comment about a motorbike accident made it seem minor. I wonder if that is also a good mechanism... not to talk in terms that frighten yourself and others 🤔.

I'm terribly sorry about your partner's accident and your child's illness. I'm probably forgetting something from your detailed column. At any rate I do hope everything begins to resolve and improve each day.

I had a Yoga teacher once who was into essential oils. But she certainly never explained any of it to this depth. I guess I thought inhaling was just a pleasant distraction for a moment. My stash is old, but I'm going to look through and see what I have. I didn't understand how therapeutic it was.. or maybe before now I never needed it so desperately. I look on my bookshelves and see that I have several books about herbs! I guess I just thought it was interesting reading material. And I do grow a few cooking herbs. Just proves you can always learn something useful and new if you stay open-minded.

Sending you lots of loving energy which I hope will help as much as your advice helps the rest of us. Blessings 🙏

Thank you so much for your kind and uplifting message. 🙏

I think that being aware of the language we use— especially in the stories we tell ourselves and others— is exceedingly important. Emotional language creates drama, and while drama draws others in, it's also exhausting! Not what any of us want in times like these. So, I'll always endeavour to stick to the facts, and present them in as low-key a way as I can here.

I know what you mean about aromatherapy— I used to think exactly the same thing! But my 'inner guide' prompted me do a deep-dive into the science behind it when I was putting this process together, and what I learned astonished me. (In fact, I wrote a book about it, which I'll maybe get round to publishing 'when I've got a minute'!) Suffice it to say: essential oils are the distilled essence of herbs, which contain potent chemical compounds that can help us in myriad ways. I hope you dust down those herb books and fully engage with their wondrous healing properties. 🌱❤️
