Hi Lori,

I've been thinking about one of your previous articles about staying out of sight. Does that include leaving Substack? As far as deleting old posts, how can one possibly delete all of one's comments and likes/❤️ on here? I obviously would have to delete this account and start a new one with a pseudonym, unless Substack let's you change your name... 🤔

Hi Gregg

I like you — a strategic thinker, already looking down the line at what might happen. We're kindred. 🙂

I've also been pondering how Substack might play into all of this, because you're right— staying out of sight in the age of surveillance capitalism does mean effectively deleting your existing digital footprint and building a new, anonymised one. Huge undertaking/headache, and one I'm currently personally burying my head in the sand about, simply because it will take so much time and energy and I have little of either.

The alternative is to build an exit strategy. It needn't necessarily be permanent, which generally takes considerable finances and again, time (for the application to be processed). Becoming a digital nomad for the foreseeable future may be an option for people whose income is not 'place-dependent, or who have the resources to move money elsewhere and survive there for a couple of years.

I still can't quite my head around the fact that we are considering these options for residents of the US.

Lastly — and it should have been firstly — thanks for your subscription. It means a lot.

Thank you for writing these articles. These are so good. I am forwarding them to friends and family. Breath is the anchor. Getting that right, makes a difference. It's the nervous system that calms you. I believe we have that ability as young children, but we aren't trained or encouraged to be aware of what it does for us. And once it's diminished, it makes us vulnerable to fear. It takes courage to restore it. Thank you Lori.

The best definition of courage I've ever heard was: being afraid and doing it anyway.

We all need to do this!

Thank you for reminding me of this exercise. What Is happening in the country, via this administration, literally takes my breath away. This exercise brings it back plus some. I used to meditate and this wonderful exercise is as good a lead-in as any to sit just a while longer, maybe restart a practice I’ve sorely missed.

You're welcome Deanna, I'm so happy to know it's been helpful to you.

Please lean-in to the other posts in the series, especially the Essential Oil post, as this can be combined with the deep breathing practice for greater effect https://loricorbetmann.substack.com/p/in-uncertain-times-this-is-where-8ba There are two more posts to come, that will help you deepen the process further. I'm sure you'll find them of even greater benefit. 🙏

You're right Charles, it's a really helpful technique, and one I covered in depth in my post "3 Fast-Acting Tools for Tackling Overwhelm." https://loricorbetmann.substack.com/p/3-fast-acting-tools-to-help-you-tackle

But it is very much a tool for in the moment, when you feel like you've reached a tipping point, and don't know how to stop yourself from going under. This post is part of a series, to help readers get out in front of that and stand firm through the storm.
