In an infinite universe the future is by definition not yet written, but speaking as one emergent phenomenon to another, we have observed that the closer a volcano is to erupting the greener the trees around it look from space. Trees evidently have a philosophy.

I came across a line this weekend from the always-brilliant Marilynne Robinson, describing this time: "We have been given the grounds and opportunity to do some very basic thinking."
I think this post falls into that category: finding the ground upon which we stand.
I appreciate that you included "The Long Game." We Americans have this "let's fix it" mentality. And that is, in many ways, a very good thing.
Patience, however, not so much.
Digging in is not a defensive strategy right now. It is a holding position.
